Built by a researcher who handles data that cannot leak.
FileXL is not a venture-funded platform chasing a growth target. It is a self-funded service built around one absolute principle: your files are yours, and privacy is not just a feature—it is the baseline.
Who is behind this?
FileXL is built and run by a single engineer — a PhD researcher in applied artificial intelligence whose academic work involves deep-learning software for medical imaging.
That background shapes the product. Building software around patient scan data means years spent on information that must not leak, must not linger, and must never be repurposed.
How we operate.
Every service claims to care about privacy. These are the specific, checkable choices that follow from it.
Deletion is the default
Files are removed automatically after 14 days. Not archived, not retained for analytics — permanently deleted.
No account to send
Send up to 10 GB without an email or password. If you never register, we hold zero personal details.
An option with no server at all
Peer-to-peer transfer sends files browser to browser over an encrypted channel. Nothing reaches us, so there is nothing for us to lose or disclose.
Our Commitments
What we promise, and what we won't pretend.
-
We do not sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to brokers, not to anyone. The service is funded by optional premium plans — the ordinary way, not by monetising you.
-
We do not read your files to build profiles. Your file contents are never used for advertising, behavioral analytics, or training machine learning models.
-
Encrypted in transit and at rest. TLS 1.2 or higher on every connection, AES-256 on stored files. Peer-to-peer utilizes DTLS with AES-GCM (mandatory in WebRTC).
-
Download links cannot be guessed. Each URL contains a secure, randomly generated hash. Nothing is indexed or browsable, so a file is reachable only by someone holding your exact link.
-
Automated security scanning does happen. Uploads are checked automatically for malware and illegal content. These are machine checks only. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
